A happy surprise - more pix of Valeria!

Our friend Nancy sent us to a blog of another family who is also adopting a 2-year old girl from the same town where Valeria lives. I reached out to them and was disappointed to learn that while they are in the same baby house, their girl is in a different group, so they hadn't seen Valeria.

Until Friday the 13th, which was lucky for us! The kids in the baby house put on a performance...and Valeria was one of the little "stars" of the show! We were thrilled - not only to catch a few more glimpses of our potential little girl, but especially to see her in such a warm and happy setting.

(She's in the pink with the big fuzzy bow!)

Part of the show involved a "hot potato" type game with the kids passing a stick around. Apparently it was "rigged" so Valeria would get the stick and be able to dance in the middle... she must love to dance! (Hmmm...we might have some impromptu family room dance recitals in our future, with Kristin & Valeria together!)

Here she is doing a Russian scarf dance (the pink bow makes her head look big!).

They also presented a birthday cake to all the kids celebrating a birthday this winter.

We were certainly lucky to get this extra "sneak peak" at her, but we don't expect to get more....until we meet her in person, in mid April! We'll send an update then!

  1. Alison and gang,
I am so happy for you all! Valeria looks like a great addition to the family. Finally, a child that looks more like Alison than Russ!
I can't believe that both of us ended up with Russian children. I will have to send you some of the the things we do to celebrate their Russian heritage (Russian Orthodox Christmas, Gottcha Days, etc.) Looking forward to hearing more about your adventure. Congratulations!!
Love, Linda, Vitaly, Konnor & Gregori
