We spent the morning unpacking, went to the grocery store (where Oxana was a lifesaver!) then headed to the baby house to meet Valeria. We were excited and anxious to finally meet her.
When they walked her in, we almost didn’t recognize her because she is so tiny. They brought her over to us, explaining that we’re her new “Mama y Papa.” She was quiet, taking it all in, and sat calmly in both of our laps. We then walked up to a small play room and I enjoyed the way she clung to me so tightly. She was a little shy at first, but in a few minutes she became playful and giggly.

We played with her for 2 hours… which admittedly did seem quite long, being our first day, and because we had to stay in one room the whole time. It was a lot to absorb in one day, draining and exciting at the same time.

Valeria is beautiful and I love the picture of the 3 of you! All look very happy!! You're in my prayers!! mht
ReplyDeleteAlready on the cell phone yakking with the BFFs while Daddy tries to talk to her. I like this girl!
ReplyDeletei want to pinch those chubby cheeks!
ReplyDeleteShe seems pretty relaxed and comforatable with both of you.
ReplyDeleteWill you be visiting daily and gradually extending the time?
Have you come up with any nicknames yet?
How is the language thing working out with her?

ReplyDeleteI love your postings - how fun to be able to experience this with both of you. It's great for Aidan and Kristen too. Keep the postings coming! Do you have to stay in the apartment when you're not visiting?
hey guys! I'm so addicted to reading your blog! How exciting and fun - I'm just so happy for you guys!! The pictures Valeria are adorable, she's so sweet!! So - do you get to bring her home w/ you the end of May? Again, keep your posts coming, I love reading it everyday!!
ReplyDeleteToo funny that are in the same apt that we inhabited - we were very pleased with it and hope it does well for y'all, too!
ReplyDeleteLoving the photos of Valeria - hooray!
I am so happy for all of you guys!! It is good to see Valeria smile. I know the visits seem long when you are stuck in a room for so long, but all I can say is touch her and speak to her as much as you can. If you brought pictures of Aidan and Kristin, show her those and let them traslate for you who they are. If you can begin to communicate hungry, potty, tired and things like that it will make it easier when you leave the orphange and have her on your own. I am so happy for you!!! Blessings, Linda & boys
