This time - it's for real! We are here, settled into our FAR-nicer-than-expected little apartment in Karaganda... and Russ was able to get internet going tonight. The connection is super slow, so can't post pix YET. Just want to post a note to let you know we made it, had a fun day in Almaty- which is a cool city! Karaganda isn't much to write home about, from what we can tell - but we have a wonderful interpreter, Oxana, who is really making life much easier for us!
Got to meet Valeria today - she was sweet as could be, a little shy and quiet at first, but became playful soon and has a cute little giggle. We go back tomorrow and will report more then - promise to try to attach a photo then!!

I am not buyin' it. I think you are still at the airport. Oxana sounds like a Kenuckian name.
ReplyDeleteDoes Valeria know what's up yet, and who you are? Inquiring Mountain Men want to Know...
Is it tomorrow in Karaganda time yet? I want more pictures!
ReplyDeleteCan't you just go to the Starbucks on the corner for a better connection?! ....what?! No Starbucks on the corner!! That's just crazy!
Take care, Angela
Congratulations on meeting your new daughter! And Russ quickly setting up internet connection with jet lag and weird Russian instructions - impressive :-)
ReplyDeleteHooray, hooray, hooray - congratulations on your arrival and on meeting your baby girl. Wahoo!
ReplyDeleteAnd shy is *good*, it's so much better for attachment and I'm sure she'll just transform in front of your eyes over the next days.
I want to see photos of you blubbering over your baby girl - I'm crying in like every photo from our first day.
